Travel by historic canal boat from Etruria to Middleport Pottery and return. Trips leave from Etruria Junction, Trent and Mersey canal, towpath by Etruria Industrial Museum, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, ST1 4RB Travel from Etruria to Middleport Pottery and back along the Trent and Mersey canal in the newly restored historic narrow boat Lindsay. You will sit in the hold of boat as we glide past the sites of Josiah Wedgwood's Etruria Pottery, the Garden Festival and Shelton Steel Works. On past the Burslem Port site, Newport Pottery, where Clarice Cliff produced Bizarre pottery, the Anderton Company boatyard and warehouse to Middleport Pottery, opened by HRH Prince Charles, having arrived on the very boat you are traveling on from Etruria. At Middleport you can look around the works, visit the factory shop and have a cup of tea in the cafe before rejoining the Lindsay for your return to Etruria. If you are lucky, you may see Terry the dinner-plate sized terrapin basking in the sun by the side of the canal. The trip is free but donations will be very welcome!
